Blackpink Singer Drops New Solo Song, Video

Track marks the second single off the Blackpink singer’s upcoming solo album Rosie

Following her chart-topping track “Apt” with Bruno Mars, Rosé has released the sentimental, pop-punk single, “Number One Girl.” The stripped-back music video, released Friday as well, features a pig-tailed Rosé sitting in a vacant skate park crying for a nameless lover.

“Isn’t it lonely / I do anything to make you want me / I’d give it all up if you told me/ That I’ll be / The number one girl in your eyes,” Rosé sings, in the self-directed music video.

“Number One Girl” marks the second single off Rosé’s debut album Rosie, set to release Dec. 6. The album’s lead single “Apt” — the flirtatious track with mars about a Korean “Apartment” drinking game — has spent the last four weeks at Number One on the Billboard Global 200 chart. While Rosie marks Rosé’s first full-length effort, she launched her solo career a few years back with the 2021 EP, R.

In an Instagram post announcing Rosie, Rosé described feeling “confused and lost,” as she attempted to get a grip on her next career shift. With the help of her family, her team, and her fans, she was able to complete the 12-track debut album.

“I have poured my blood and tears into this album,” she wrote back in October. “I cannot wait for you to listen to this little journal of mine. Rosie – is the name I allow my friends and family to call me. With this album, I hope you all feel that much closer to me.”

Earlier this week, Rosé’s Blackpink bandmate Lisa also announced her debut album, Alter Ego, set to release February 2025. Along with the album announcement, Lisa released a three-minute visual where she steps into five varying personas.
