The Mavericks Announce Two-Night Raul Malo Tribute at the Ryman

Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium will host a blowout tribute performance for the MavericksRaul Malo. On Dec. 5 and 6, the Mavericks will gather special guests to honor their frontman in Dance The Night Away: A 35 Year Musical Legacy.

“I’m really looking forward to these two nights at the Ryman,” Malo shared in a statement. “The overwhelming support and love from my musician friends, fans, and family will prove these shows to be something special.”

More than 25 artists will participate in the live show, including Patty Griffin, Jim Lauderdale, JD McPherson, Maggie Rose, Marty Stuart, Jamey Johnson, and Steve Earle. Malo is unable to perform, but with plenty of guests, the double night of performances will make up for it. The musician effectively retired from touring for the time being following a diagnosis of colon cancer and leptomeningeal disease.

“We don’t know what this will look like a couple months from now, but we are going into it like we have with everything else,” Malo shared in a statement in September. “Full steam ahead. Fight, recover, rest, repeat. I want to thank you all for your incredible support through all this, & sorry about the cancellations but we have no choice anymore. Find kindness and empathy out there wherever you can.”
