Mariah Carey Extends ‘All I Want For Christmas’ Hot 100 Record

The iconic holiday song has spent 22 weeks at Number One

Mariah Carey just extended her Billboard Hot 100 record for most weeks at Number One. On Monday, the R&B diva celebrated “All I Want for Christmas Is You” reaching 22 total weeks on top of the singles chart.

“22!!!! Truly grateful for this Christmas gift,” Carey wrote on Instagram alongside some holiday-themed emojis.

The holiday classic re-emerges on the chart every holiday season and broke the record for most weeks at Number One earlier this month, beating the record previously held by both “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus, and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”

Holiday music overtook the top of the charts this week with Top 24 positions, including Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock,” Wham!’s “Last Christmas,” and Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me.”

“All I Want for Christmas Is You” also extended its record on the Streaming Songs chart, reaching 26 weeks at the No. 1 slot.

It’s been a season of wins for Carey, who was awarded $92,300 to be paid by legal counsel for country artist Vince Vance after his copyright infringement lawsuit  was dismissed in March. Vance claimed “All I Want For Christmas is You” ripped off a 1988 Christmas jingle of the same name from his band Vince Vance & the Valiants, and sought $20 million in the November 2023 case.

Carey is next scheduled to perform at New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, after she wrapped her 28-show Christmas Time tour with a 10-show residency in Las Vegas and a final performance in New York on Dec. 27.
