Track follows the success of her first independent single, “Joyride”
Kesha has her middle fingers up for an awful ex on her latest single. On Friday, after teasing the track for weeks, the pop star released “Delusional,” the follow-up to her freedom-celebrating “Joyride.”
On the new track, Kesha reduces the past love to “just another song on my setlist” and thanks the ex for getting “my bills paid.” She sings, “Baby you’re delusional/Thinking you could ever find/Something that’s as beautiful/Someone with a love like mine.”
Over the last few days, the singer has been sharing silly teasers about the track. “My ex should hide on friday,” Kesha tweeted on Nov. 26. She also shared a snippet of the song, captioning it: “Thanks to my idiot ex. u inspired my best song yet.”
Kesha reconnected with “Joyride” collaborators Zhone and Madison Love for the song, which was also released on her independent label, Kesha Records.
Last week, Kesha released the video for “Joyride,” which captures the singer racing through the desert in a blood-red convertible while being chased by a helicopter, assassins, and a shirtless hottie.
“Delusional” and the new video are leading up to “an even bigger year ahead in 2025,” according to a press release. Kesha will close the year performing at two Jingle Ball stops in Boston and Washington, D.C., before solo shows in Australia and the United Kingdom next year.
In October, Kesha joined Charli XCX on stage to perform their recent remix of “Spring Breakers” during the Brat singer’s Sweat tour stop at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. Kesha also performed her own hit, “Tik Tok,” alongside Charli and Troye Sivan.
