Blackpink will release their new mini album, Deadline, on Feb. 27 via YG Entertainment. The album shares its name with the group’s current world tour.
Deadline marks Blackpink’s third mini album following 2018’s Square Up and 2019’s Kill This Love. Their most recent full-length album, Born Pink, arrived in 2022. The group teased the release in a short video on social media, although they have not confirmed the track list as of yet.
The mini album will presumably include “Jump,” Blackpink’s comeback single, released in July. For the single, the quartet of Jisoo, Jenny, Rosé, and Lisa enlisted an army of songwriters — TEDDY, Diplo, 24, Zikai, Claudia Valentina, Jumpa, Malachiii, and Jesse Bluu. The track was produced by Diplo, 24, Boaz Van De Beatz , Zecca, and Ape Drums.
Since releasing Born Pink, the members of Blackpink have largely focused on their solo careers. Rosé dropped solo LP Rosie, which included “Apt,” her hit collaboration with Bruno Mars. Lisa released her own solo album, Alter Ego, last year and also appeared in the most recent season of The White Lotus, which was shot in Thailand. Last year, Jennie released her debut solo project, Ruby, while Jisoo released her EP, Amortage.
The Deadline World Tour say the singers making a comeback as a group. It kicked off at Seoul’s Goyang Stadium last year and continues in Tokyo on Jan. 16 and in Hong Kong on Jan. 24 and 26. In August, Blackpink became the first K-pop girl group to headline Wembley Stadium. During the show, they paid tribute to a fellow girl group sensation who preceded them, performing Spice Girls’ 1996 smash debut single, “Wannabe.”
