Katseye’s Manon to Take ‘Temporary Hiatus’ From Group

The news arrives after the global girl group were nominated for Best New Artist at this year’s Grammys

Manon Bannerman, one of the six members of Katseye, is taking a break from the global girl group assembled by Hybe and Geffen Records. The news arrives after Katseye was nominated for this year’s Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the Grammys and performed on stage during the ceremony.

In an announcement posted to Weverse, the companies stated that after “open and thoughtful conversations together, we are sharing that Manon will be taking a temporary hiatus from group activities to focus on her health and wellbeing.” The message read that Hybe and Geffen Records “fully support this decision” and that Katseye “remains committed to showing up for one another and for the fans who mean everything to us.”

During the hiatus, the group will “continue scheduled activities during this time, and we look forward to being together again when the time is right.”

When speaking to Rolling Stone back in June about Beautiful Chaos, Manon said making their second EP felt “so authentic to who we are right now” in both their lyricism and the manifestation of their artistry. “We’ve paid a lot more attention to detail,” said Manon. “It’s been a really fun experience and it feels authentic to us.”

In the interview, the group also said they hired a group therapist to help them cope with the challenges of modern stardom. Last fall, when speaking with the BBC, the six members of the group alleged they received a barrage of death threats and other online harassment since making their debut. At the time, Manon said it was “very terrorizing on the mind.”
