Blackpink’s Comeback Mini Album, ‘Deadline,’ Is Here

Blackpink released their new mini album, Deadline, today, marking their first official release in over three years. The album features five tracks, including single “Jump,” and is the third mini album of Blackpink’s career.

Along with the album, Blackpink shared a music video for anthemic, EDM-laced album cut “Go.” Listen to the full album here.

Blackpink announced Deadline, which shares its name with the group’s recent world tour, in January. Deadline marks Blackpink’s third mini album following 2018’s Square Up and 2019’s Kill This Love. Their most recent full-length album, Born Pink, arrived in 2022.

Ahead of the mini album, Blackpink shared “Jump,” their official comeback single, in July. For the single, the quartet of Jisoo, Jenny, Rosé, and Lisa enlisted an army of songwriters — TEDDY, Diplo, 24, Zikai, Claudia Valentina, Jumpa, Malachiii, and Jesse Bluu. The track was produced by Diplo, 24, Boaz Van De Beatz , Zecca, and Ape Drums.

Since releasing Born Pink, the members of Blackpink have largely focused on their solo careers. Rosé dropped solo LP Rosie, which included “Apt,” her hit collaboration with Bruno Mars. Lisa released her own solo album, Alter Ego, last year and also appeared in the most recent season of The White Lotus, which was shot in Thailand. Last year, Jennie released her debut solo project, Ruby, while Jisoo released her EP, Amortage.

After taking a break for their solo careers, Blackpink returned last year for their Deadline World Tour. It kicked off at Seoul’s Goyang Stadium and wrapped in Hong Kong in January. In August, Blackpink became the first K-pop girl group to headline Wembley Stadium. During the show, they paid tribute to a fellow girl group sensation who preceded them, performing Spice Girls’ 1996 smash debut single, “Wannabe.”

YG Entertainment, the group’s record label, said in a statement around the release of Deadline, “Even amid the intense schedule of a large-scale world tour, the members devoted significant time and effort to perfecting this album. We are confident it is a body of work that encapsulates both the individual musical capabilities of the four members and their synergy as a team. We ask for your continued support as Blackpink once again leaves a meaningful mark on the global music industry.”
