Noah Kahan’s ‘Out of Body’ Documentary Gets April Release Date

Out of Body drops on Netflix in April, and “captures so much more than I ever thought the world would see about myself,” says the singer-songwriter

Noah Kahan is set to release a new documentary about his life next month, with the singer-songwriter saying it “captures so much more than I ever thought the world would see about myself.”

Noah Kahan: Out of Body, premiering April 13 on Netflix, follows Kahan as he returns to his home in Vermont after a run of major shows in support of his breakthrough 2022 album Stick Season. As Kahan wrote on social media, the documentary crew followed him around for a year and a half, an experience he described as “weird, difficult, and genuinely beautiful.”

Along with presenting an intimate portrait of himself, Kahan said the film offers a look at his “creative journey” and family. He did admit to some nerves about the project “because it’s personal and some things I touch on are painful to think about and be reminded of.”

But, he continued, “anything scary or hard is usually worth sharing with the world. Maybe it will reach one of you in a time when you need it. Maybe you’ll see some of your own family in mine. Either way, I hope you love it.”

Out of Body was directed by filmmaker Nick Sweeney, who told Netflix’s Tudum that Kahan was “determined to be honest about everything, especially the messy bits.” He added of the musician and the time period the movie captures: “He was in a strange in-between moment, caught in the collision between almost surreal fame and a quieter inner world he’d tried to keep offstage. What we captured over the course of a year surprised me — moments that were thrilling, terrifying, [and] hilarious, often all at once.”

Kahan first revealed that there was a documentary about him in the works last summer. The film is now set to arrive right ahead of the release of the singer-songwriter’s highly anticipated new record, The Great Divide, which drops April 24. So far, Kahan has released a pair of songs from the LP, including the title track and “Porch Light.”
