The song comes off the singer’s most recent LP, Quantum Baby, which arrived this summer
Tinashe has dropped a music video for her single, “Cross That Line.” The dynamic clip was directed by Jonah Haber and depicts Tinashe being detained in a cell, struggling to escape as onlookers watch her dance.
“Cross That Line” comes off Tinashe’s most recent album, Quantum Baby, which dropped in August. According to a press release, the video “touches on the concepts of perception and surveillance, which have been a through line during the Quantum Baby rollout.” Additionally, the “Cross That Line” video picks up where her “No Broke Boys” music video left off.
Tinashe is currently supporting Quantum Baby on her Match My Freak World Tour, which continues in Australia later this month before heading to Asia and Europe in the new year. She recently wrapped a run of headlining dates in North America with singer and songwriter Raveena as her opening act.
The singer will also perform as part of ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest later this month. Seacrest will host the annual telecast alongside Rita Ora, with additional performers Teddy Swims, Thomas Rhett, Cody Johnson, and Lenny Kravitz.
Quantum Baby is part of a trilogy of albums that includes last year’s BB/Ang3l. Tinashe told Rolling Stone that she came up with the idea to connect her releases before putting them out.
“I think people’s attention span is not the best,” she said. “Sometimes you work on an album for two years and then people move on within two months, and that feels shitty. [The third part is] definitely still in the works. One of the benefits of having this three-part trilogy is being able to change it and adapt it in real time. A lot of times, you create an album and then you don’t get to release the songs for a year or two years. I don’t want to re-create ‘Nasty’ several times, or anything like that. I’m just more inspired to go outside of my comfort zone.”
