Carrie Underwood + Hannah Harper Sing ‘String Cheese’ at the Opry

American Idol winner Hannah Harper made her Grand Ole Opry debut this week and she was joined by her friend and an Opry favorite, Carrie Underwood.

Carrie Underwood Joins Hannah Harper for “String Cheese”

It wasn’t long after Harper won this season of Idol that the Opry announced the country singer would be making her debut on their heralded stage. She stepped into that iconic circle on Tuesday (June 2) bringing her heart to the world of country music.

She was in good company as Underwood was also performing that night. The country hitmaker even joined Harper on stage for a rendition of her original song “String Cheese.”

Carrie Underwood’s Connection to Hannah Harper

As a judge on American Idol, Underwood fell in love with Harper early on in the season.

“You might be my favorite person that’s walked through those doors in the past three weeks,” the country veteran said after her audition.

“You’re gorgeous. Like, you look famous already. I just think you have just a beautiful simplicity to your voice. You’re one that I’m gonna think about when we leave here, like I wonder what she’s gonna sing next, and I feel like I’m gonna be just rooting for you.

“I love everything about everything you just did.”

Hannah Harper Has Booked Her First Country Tour

In addition to her Opry debut, Harper just kicked off her debut tour. Her String Cheese Tour kicked off with her Opry show and will continue through Nov. 15.

Threaded into her tour dates are some shows with fellow American Idol alum Lauren Alaina and her Stages Tour this fall. Harper is scheduled to open for Alaina Oct. 15-25 and again on Nov. 12 when they tour heads to Nashville.
