Samantha Busch Recalls Where She Met Kyle Busch at Indy

For Samantha Busch, this year’s Indianapolis race weekend brought back memories she never expected to revisit alone.

In an emotional Instagram post, Samantha reflected on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where she first met her late husband, NASCAR champion Kyle Busch.

The race became more than just another stop on the calendar for the couple — it marked the beginning of nearly two decades together.

This past weekend was the Indianapolis race, and with it came a flood of emotions. It’s where Kyle and I met, where our story began, and every year when Indy rolled around, we celebrated it in our own special little way.

She explained that the couple had made it a tradition to celebrate the anniversary of their first meeting each year.

Sometimes they would enjoy a nice dinner together. Other years, they would walk the track, reminiscing about “those two kids who met there all those years ago.”

Alongside her message, Samantha shared photos of the couple taken later in 2007, not long after they met.

Looking back, she said she sees “two kids completely caught up in the excitement of falling in love,” with no idea what life had in store.

At the time, Samantha was still in college.

I never could have imagined that one chance meeting at the track with a cute, kind of shy boy would turn into the love of my life, my best friend, the father of my children, and almost twenty years of memories together.

How One Race Changed Samantha Busch’s Life Forever

Samantha said she and Kyle “grew up together,” building a life through every season, every challenge, and every dream.

“We just kept choosing each other,” she wrote. “And somehow, through all those years, that wild love never faded.”

Her post ended with a heartbreaking reflection on how differently she now views those early photos.

I look at these pictures and wish I could tell that 21-year-old girl to soak up every single second. She never could have imagined how beautiful our life would become, or that one day she’d be wishing for just one more day with you.

Samantha ended her post with a simple message to Kyle: “I’ll love you forever.”

What Happened to Kyle Busch?

Kyle Busch died on May 21 at the age of 41 after severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis. He had been found unresponsive in a Chevrolet racing simulator in Concord, N.C., one day before his death.

The NASCAR champion is survived by Samantha and the couple’s two children, Brexton, 11, and Lennix, 4.

For Samantha, this year’s Indianapolis race wasn’t just another stop on the racing calendar. It was a reminder of where everything began — a chance meeting between two young people that grew into a marriage, a family and nearly 20 years of memories together.
