Post Malone Tips Single Mother $20,000 on Christmas Eve in Houston

Post Malone spent Christmas Day at Houston’s NRG Stadium, where he made an awe-struck appearance alongside Beyoncé during her NFL halftime show performance. But the night before, he was kicking it at a local bar in the city where he left a generous $20,000 tip for a single mother working as a bartender. ‘Tis the season for “Levii’s Jeans” and life-changing generosity.

“This is hands down the most humble, personable celebrity I’ve had the pleasure of meeting,” Renee Brown, 36, wrote on Instagram. “He changed my life on Christmas fucking Eve, and will forever be grateful. Thank you so much, Austin.” Brown, who is the mother of a nine-year-old, was dreading having to work on Christmas Eve. It was the first year she wouldn’t be home to bake cookies and watch Christmas movies with her daughter, she told Music Mayhem. It was also their first Christmas since “losing everything and starting over from scratch” in August.

During her late-night shift at the Houston dive bar the Railyard, Brown said, she was “oblivious that God would send me a Christmas miracle.” It came in the form of Malone, who is the father of a two-year-old daughter himself.

Malone rolled through with Shaboozey, who also performed at the Beyoncé Bowl, and a few other friends. At last call, when he learned his bill had been covered by his crew and some regulars at the bar, he had Brown ring him up for any amount so he could leave her a tip. She charged him one dollar, bringing his total plus tip to $20,001. “I immediately broke down crying,” Brown said. “It was a very emotional night already being away from home, being swamped behind the bar, trying to process that they were even there and then the tip on top.”

Brown and Malone snapped a few photos together in between teary-eyed expressions of gratitude. “I finally got a chance to stop cleaning and talk to him some more and thank him. I know I was crying and thanking him, but he has no idea exactly how much this meant to me,” she said. “If this message reaches him, I know I told him that night how grateful I am, but I’d like to reiterate that he helped me in ways I can’t even begin to explain.”

Brown plans to put the money towards catching up on her rent, saving to start a business she’s had in mind for a while, and secure a means of getting to and from work after being without a car for two years. “Things have been extremely difficult, and this was truly a blessing that I can’t fully put into words,” she added. “The visit alone was absolutely amazing and something I could talk about and remember for the rest of my life.”
