Standing ovations and warm welcomes are the norm in Glen Powell‘s world, but recently he experienced some intense booing at a college football game.
The moment came during the Georgia vs. Mississippi State game at Sanford Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 12. As the actor jogged out onto the field, he was met with a chorus of boos from the entire stadium.
But don’t worry, it was all by design.
Powell was filming scenes of an upcoming Hulu series titled Chad Powers. The crowd was instructed to boo the actor as he led his team of blue and white uniformed players out of the tunnel.

What Is Glenn Powell’s New Show Chad Powers About?
Chad Powers is loosely based on a semi-real story. According to IMDB, the series follows “a disgraced college quarterback named Russ Holliday (Powell)” who “disguises himself as Chad Powers and walks onto a struggling Southern football team to revive his football career.”
The idea came from a prank that Eli Manning pulled on Penn State in 2022. Lamenting the fact that he never had a chance to walk on to a team (he was heavily recruited to play college ball) the former NFL quarterback went undercover to try out for a team. He did it all in the name of research.

Manning even serves as an executive producer on the project, along with ESPN and his brother Peyton’s Omaha Productions.
“The love for Chad Powers has surprised me in spectacular ways,” Manning says. “I played 16 years in the NFL, but now when I’m in a restaurant or walking through an airport, it’s not uncommon for fans to scream, ‘Hey Chad!’”
“I’m so excited to team up with my friends Glen Powell, Michael Waldron and Omaha Productions to continue to tell the Chad Powers story and see what he does next,” he adds.
Hulu has not yet announced a premiere date.
