Harmonizers, stand up! On Thursday night, Dinah Jane and Ally Brooke reunited onstage at the Roxy in Los Angeles to perform Fifth Harmony’s “Better Together,” for the first time together since the group broke up in 2018.
The duet with Brooke came after Jane played a medley of 5H songs, including “Reflection,” “All in My Head,” “Sledgehammer,” and “Deliver.”
Although Brooke and Jane first reconnected last year for a duet of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” on Brooke’s Christmas EP Under the Tree last year, this performance at the Roxy is the first time the group’s members performed a Fifth Harmony song since their final show in March 2018.
“We hadn’t seen each other in five years, and it was like we didn’t ever leave. It was amazing,” Brooke told Rolling Stone last December. “Music is very healing. Collaborating again and starting from scratch would be a very big healer as well. This planted the seed for us, I would say,” Jane added at the time.
Fifth Harmony — responsible for hits like “Worth It,” “Work From Home,” and “All in My Head” — was formed in 2012. As a five-piece with Camila Cabello, the group dropped two albums, 7/27 and Reflection. Fifth Harmony then released a self-titled album in 2017, before officially disbanding the following year to “pursue solo endeavors.”
Jane is currently on her Road Less Traveled tour, which will see her stop by Salt Lake City, Napa, Santa Cruz, Napa, and Honolulu later this month. During a show in August, Jane performed a medley of 5H songs that included “All in My Head,” “Everlasting Love,” “Better Together,” and “Like Mariah.”
The run celebrates her debut eight-track project Juice County, Vol. 1, which delivers “very tropical, naughty, island girl vibes,” as she told Rolling Stone. “I love that people can see my identity now more than ever before.”
Since the hiatus, each member has pursued a solo career. Cabello released her fourth LP C, XOXO earlier this year; Brooke starred on MTV reality show The Surreal Life; Lauren Jauregui released her second EP In Between last May; and Normani dropped her debut album, Dopamine, in June.
