Katy Perry Celebrates Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Sweet’ Los Angeles Show

Katy Perry paid tribute to Sabrina Carpenter following the pop singer’s performance in Los Angeles at the Kia Forum earlier this week.

“soooo @sabrinacarpenter show was too short but so sweet 🍬,” Perry wrote on Instagram alongside a series of photos from the show, including her and Carpenter posing backstage. “Thanks for solidifying my FUNTIE status with my nieces & for playing my fave song ‘Lie to Girls’ IT JUST KILLS ME CAUSE IT FEELS LIKE YOUVE READ EVERY GIRLS DIARY WRITING THAT SONG 🥹💋”

Although Perry attended the show with her nieces, she notably reunited with her ex John Mayer in the crowd nearly 10 years after their very-public split. Perry and Mayer were both in the audience for Carpenter’s Short ‘n Sweet tour stop on Nov. 17. Other celebs at the concert included Cara Delevingne, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Blue Ivy Carter.

During the show, Carpenter “arrested” Marcello Hernández’s viral Saturday Night Live persona Domingo for being too hot. During the bit, Hernández played his character Domingo, who told Carpenter in a distinctive accent that he was from “Miami, baby.” “Miami?” she replied. “I wish you were from my bedroom. What are you doing here tonight?”

“I’m the cute boy with blue jacket and the thick accent,” Hernández said as Domingo. “I’m getting so flustered and overwhelmed,” Carpenter responded. “Is there anything you want to say before I arrest you Domingo?” The comedian then performed a few lines of his viral riff on Carpenter’s “Espresso.”

Trending Stories

Carpenter, who previously arrested Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown during a Short n’ Sweet concert in Atlanta, targeted Margaret Qualley during her show on Nov. 18. During the concert, the pop star joked with her producer Jack Antonoff, and made his wife Margaret her “Juno girl.”

Although Los Angeles marks the end of Carpenter’s U.S. tour dates, she will head to the U.K. and Europe next spring, with shows set for London, Paris, and more.
