German outfit Kraftwerk will return to North America to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their monumental Autobahn album and first U.S. tour that took place in 1975.
Billed as a multimedia tour, a press release touts Kraftwerk concerts as a “Gesamtkunstwerk – a total work of art” for “[b]ringing together music, visuals and performance art.” The trek will see the electronic-rock group hold shows across 25 cities and will kick off on March 6, 2025 in Philadelphia at Franklin Music Hall. Other stops include Pittsburgh, Toronto, Montreal, Memphis, Nashville, New York, Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, and more. Kraftwerk will also be making their third Coachella appearance on April 13 and 20.
Tickets will go on sale Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. local time at kraftwerktour25.com, while fans can sign-up for presale access today.
To promote the upcoming tour, Kraftwerk enlisted Tony Hawk in a trailer for the announcement. The video features the skateboarder alongside three others, all echoing the cover of The Man-Machine, on a half-pipe as tour dates flash across the screen.
Rolling Stone recently named Autobahn as one of “The 74 Best Albums of 1974,” listing the record at Number 53. The lead single of the same name was credited as “giving experimental electronic music a motorik kick in the tailpipe and more or less inventing synth-pop with the wildly innovative, self-consciously campy, undeniably transporting 22-minute robo-Beach Boys techno-hymn.”
