Charli XCX Cast With Jenna Ortega, Natalie Portman in ‘The Gallerist’

Charli will feature in The Gallerist, which also includes Catherine Zeta-Jones and Zach Galifianakis

Charli XCX is slated to appear alongside an all-star cast that includes Jenna Ortega and Natalie Portman in Cathy Yan’s upcoming film titled The Gallerist, according to a report from Deadline.

The movie’s cast is particularly stacked as Catherine Zeta-Jones, Zach Galifianakis, Sterling K. Browne, Daniel Brühl, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph have all signed on as well. Per Deadline, the film is about a gallerist trying to sell a dead body at the famed Art Basel in Miami. Written by Yan and James Pedersen, the project is set to start shooting at the end of the year.

The casting comes as Charli is transitioning from Brat summer into more acting roles. She is starring in the Pete Ohs-directed movie Erupcja as well, and shot the movie in Poland over the summer. She’s also expected to star alongside Olivia Wilde in the thriller I Want Your Sex.

“The way [Ohs] talked about making his films felt akin to making an album and the chance meeting also felt equivalent to the conversational and spontaneous nature of his filmmaking,” Charli told Variety of Erupcja. “Our processes felt linked in some kind of way and it felt right and exciting to pursue some kind of collaboration.”

Prior to these castings, Charli took on voice roles in The Angry Birds Movie in 2016 and in UglyDolls in 2019.

Charli is heading into 2025 off the biggest year of her musical career so far. Rolling Stone called Brat the best album of 2024, and it was nominated for Album of the Year for the upcoming Grammys. She’s up for six other Grammys as well, including Record of the Year for “360” and for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Guess” featuring Billie Eilish.
