Britney Spears Reunites With Son Jayden Federline After Two Years

“Best Christmas of my life,” read an Instagram caption from the singer, who reportedly first reunited with Jayden in November when he came to visit her in Los Angeles

Britney Spears received the greatest gift of all this holiday season: a night spent with her youngest son, Jayden Federline. “Best Christmas of my life,” the singer wrote on Instagram, sharing a video of her reunion with the 18-year-old. “I haven’t seen my boys in 2 years,” Spears continued. “Tears of joy and literally in shock everyday koo koo crazy so in love and blessed !!! I’m speechless thank you Jesus!”

In 2023, Jayden and his older brother Sean Preston, 19, moved to Hawaii with their father, Kevin Federline. But prior to their relocation, Federline publicly stated that their two sons “decided they are not seeing her right now,” sharing that they hadn’t seen Spears in “months” and chose not to attend her wedding when she married Sam Asghari in June 2022. Spears and Asghari recently finalized their divorce after 14 months of marriage and six years as a couple.

In the Instagram video, Spears and Jayden are hanging out by a fireplace and wishing viewers a Merry Christmas. Though she mentioned not seeing both of her sons for a stretch of time in her caption, it is unclear whether Sean was also in attendance.

Spears reportedly first reunited with Jayden in November when he came to visit her in Los Angeles. Earlier this month, she posted an Instagram video tearing into the paparazzi that have made living in California generally unbearable for her. “They’ve always been incredibly cruel to me, the paparazzi, and pictures, and the way they’ve illustrated me to be in some of it. I know I’m not perfect at all, by any means. But some of it is extremely mean and cruel,” she said. “That’s why I’ve moved to Mexico.”

The move doesn’t appear to have been permanent, as Spears was photographed returning to Los Angeles last week.

In her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me, Spears wrote about her complicated relationship with her two children. One passage suggests that she decided to stop pushing back on the court-ordered conservatorship that her father enacted in 2008 for the sake of having access to Jayden and Sean. “My freedom in exchange for naps with my children,” she wrote. “It was a trade I was willing to make.” The conservatorship was terminated in November 2021, giving Spears full control of her life and estate after over 13 years.
