Bad Bunny is starting 2025 by simping over a past love. On Tuesday, the Puerto Rican star released the video for “Pitorro de Coco,” in which he sings about missing an ex-lover as a new year begins.
“Happy New Year, but it’s not so happy,” he sings on the jíbara-infused track. “You were kissed at 12 but not by me.”
The Bad Bunny and Robinson Floria-directed video sees the star sitting on a plastic chair and dressed in a strange outfit of a sky-blue suit, flip-flops, and a winter hat. He sits in the middle of the frame during a family party to welcome the new year as he sings sad lyrics about missing his lover during the holiday.
“It’s 12:04 and I’m already going crazy/Crying and drinking pitorro de coco,” sings Bad Bunny in the chorus, “which my grandfather brought me so I could have fun/Not so I could cry over a girl at 12.” (Pitorro de coco is a Puerto Rican rum drink.)
At one point, several women walk out of the mini venue with a bottle of alcohol as they flip off the camera and continue on their way, while Bad Bunny gets more and more frustrated about his start to the year.
Last week, Bad Bunny announced his sixth studio album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, scheduled to be released on Jan. 5. He announced the project with a teaser featuring the voice of Jacobo Morales.
“I should have lived more, I should have loved more while I could,” he says. “While you’re alive, one should love as much as they can.” The camera pans out and shows him talking to a small cartoon animal named Concho on the table, who responds that he loves him a lot.
Bad Bunny’s single “El Clúb” also featured similar themes of loneliness as he sang about wondering, “What might my ex be doing?” and “Is she over me?”
In early 2024, Bad Bunny was on the run for the Most Wanted tour. The trek grossed $208 million and closed out with a three-show run in Puerto Rico. He also appeared on collabs “Adivino” with Myke Towers and “Qué Pasaría” with Rauw Alejandro. He also dropped “Una Velita.”
