“It’s 2025 and I have a Number One, it’s pretty wild,” Gaga said of her Bruno Mars duet
Lady Gaga is starting 2025 on a high. On Tuesday, the pop star celebrated”Die With a Smile,” her duet with Bruno Mars, hitting Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.
“I am so incredibly grateful that my song ‘Die With a Smile’ with Bruno Mars, my friend, is Number One on the Hot 100,” she said on TikTok. “I can’t believe I’ve had two Number Ones in three different decades that I’ve been releasing my music.”
Gaga added that she was “honored” to be an artist and have so many fans, teasing that the song will be featured on her upcoming album. “Thank you for listening and dancing and making your art along with mine,” Gaga said. “I’m so grateful. It’s 2025, and I have a Number One, it’s pretty wild.”
The pop star is right that she’s had two Number Ones each of the last three decades: “Poker Face” and “Just Dance” both topped the Hot 100 in 2009, “Born This Way” hit Number One in 2011, and “Shallow” with Bradley Cooper did so in 2019. Along with “Die With a Smile,” Gaga topped the chart with “Rain on Me” alongside Ariana Grande in 2020.
Gaga told the Los Angeles Times in December that the single was gonna be a “huge part of my album,” set to release next month. “The record is full of my love of music — so many different genres, so many different styles, so many different dreams,” Gaga said. “It leaps around genre in a way that’s almost corrupt. And it ends with love. That’s the answer to all the chaos in my life is that I find peace with love.”
Gaga described some of the thematic threads across the album as being similar to a “recollection of all these bad decisions that I made in my life” but noted that it “ends in this very happy place.” She’s also set to headline Coachella 2025.
