The single appears on the country singer’s upcoming album Solitary Tracks
Kip Moore will follow up the Eighties vibes of his 2023 album Damn Love with the intensely personal project Solitary Tracks. Set for release Feb. 28, it marks Moore’s first album for Virgin Music Group.
The Georgia country singer-songwriter previews Solitary Tracks with the new single “Bad Spot,” one of 23 songs on the album (and the only one he didn’t write). In “Bad Spot,” a Casey Beathard composition, Moore laments the dissolution of a romance and takes ownership of his actions in the breakup: “I lost you in a bad spot,” he sings. A new video for “Bad Spot” premiered on Friday.
Solitary Tracks was produced by Moore and Jaren Johnston, hit songwriter and lead singer of the Cadillac Three, along with Oscar Charles and Jay Joyce. “I’m never going to cheat by just trying to write what I think people want to hear, or hold onto a sound that worked for me,” Moore says in a statement. “I’m going to always be authentic with myself, with every record, and all I ever hope is that people find a little solace. This project is a journey in itself, so I hope it helps people navigate their own life.”
Moore, who returned from dates in South Africa in October, will kick off a U.K. and European tour in May in Stockholm, Sweden.
