The pop singer’s forthcoming album will feature singles “Diet Pepsi,” “Aquamarine,” and “Obsessed”
Addison Rae has more pop gems on the way. In a teaser for “High Fashion,” released Monday, Rae flaunts a feather boa in a walk-in closet, whips her bleached hair in a rainy forest, and wipes white powder from under her nose as the words “I don’t need your drugs, I’d rather get high fashion” flash across the screen in pink, bold text.
“High Fashion,” which arrives Feb. 14, marks the TikTok sensation-turned-pop newcomer’s first single of the year. The synth-heavy track follows Rae’s dreamy, alt-pop single “Diet Pepsi,” which became her first single to crack the Billboard Hot 100, and “Aquamarine” arrived in October.
In her cover story with Rolling Stone, Rae said after moving to L.A. she wanted to step back from her social media personality — she has 88.5 million TikTok followers — and aim for pop recognition.
“As soon as I got the opportunity to start writing music and acting, I did,” said Rae, who starred in Netflix’s He’s All That in 2021. “When I moved here, I was like, ‘OK, I have to start acting classes. I have to start singing. I have to start these things immediately, because I’m already so behind.’”
Rae performed publicly for the first time during Charli XCX’s Boiler Room set last February, where she sang “2 Die For” off of her 2023 EP AR. The two collaborated again the following month on a remix of “Von Dutch,” where Rae releases a now-viral primal scream. Rae also tagged along during Charli XCX and Troye Sivan’s Sweat Tour, making a surprise appearance in New York. Rae’s forthcoming album — which is currently untitled and not yet finished — will feature singles “Diet Pepsi,” “Aquamarine,” and her 2021 single “Obsessed.”
