“‘Make Ya Body Whistle’ is a testament to that magic we all created many moons ago,” said the trio. “It’s 2010 in 2025”
Party like it’s 2010 all over again: The Cataracs and DEV have reunited! On Friday, the production duo and pop singer behind “Like a G6” and “Bass Down Low” reconnected after 15 years for the new single “Make Ya Body Whistle,” marking the return of recession pop.
The Cataracs and DEV announced the single last week, sharing how they reconnected after more than a decade. Dev and Cyrano from the Cataracs had “a chance encounter” at the EDM Awards in Miami last year and made a group chat with Campa, the second member of the Cataracs.
“[It] pleasantly and naturally resulted in a song that brough us back to where it all began,” the three artists wrote on X. “‘Make Ya Body Whistle’ is a testament to that magic we all created many moons ago. It’s 2010 in 2025.”
“It’s a spiritual and sentimental win for us first, and whatever happens next is just more cherries on our tops,” the group wrote, captioning the statement: “We didn’t think we’d be back . . . But sometimes . . . The people get what they deserve.”
The song follows the style of the same rave-pop music that brings to mind The Cataracs’ past hits and LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It.”
“Pop like a weasel, sweet like a ‘sicle/G-give me just a nibble, I can make your body whistle,” sings DEV in the chorus, slightly referencing “Like a G6.” (And yes, she does sing “I-it’s the Cataracs,” the producers’ iconic tagline.)
Since the “Like a G6” days, DEV released an album in 2017 and most recently dropped the single “IRLI” last year. As for the Cataracs, Cyrano rebranded as KSHMR for his solo projects, and Campa formed a pop duo called Terror Jr.
