American Music Awards to Return in 2025


The 2025 edition takes place on Memorial Day and will air on CBS and Paramount+

The American Music Awards are officially back. On Monday, Dick Clark Productions announced that the awards show — which hosted its last edition in 2022 — will return this year on Memorial Day.

For the 2025 edition, the American Music Awards will be hosted in Las Vegas and will broadcast on CBS and Paramount+ instead of ABC, which aired the show since 1974. As usual, the show will celebrate the most popular artists and songs of the year, and given the new date, will pay tribute to the troops on May 26. The AMAs have been known for being one of the largest fan-voted awards shows honoring artists.

Dick Clark Productions — which is co-owned by the PMC, the same parent company as Rolling Stone — has not yet revealed the exact Vegas location where the show will be held nor any of this year’s performers.

While the American Music Awards did not take place in 2023 and 2024, CBS aired a 50th anniversary special for the awards show in October, featuring artists such as Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, and Green Day. Last year, the Billboard Music Awards, also produced by Dick Clark Productions, hosted its show in the original AMAs time slot in November. (In 2023, Variety reported that the awards show was in search of a new broadcasting home.)

Taylor Swift is the most decorated artist in the awards show’s history, with 40 trophies to her name. (She’s also won Artist of the Year seven times.) Michael Jackson is second with 26 trophies, Whitney Houston is third with 22, and Kenny Rogers is fourth with 19.
