Will Smith Plans Headlining Tour for New Album ‘Based on a True Story’


Will Smith is bringing his new album Based on a True Story on the road. The actor and rapper will his the stage for more than two dozen performances at festivals and his first headlining shows across Morocco, England, France, Germany, and more.

The 26-date run will kick off on June 25 at the Moroccan music festival Mawazine. Smith’s headlining dates include three nights in Germany — with stops in Hamburg, Hannover, and Frankfurt — in July and four nights across the U.K. in August, including stops in Cardiff, Manchester, London, and Wolverhampton. The international leg of the tour is currently scheduled to wrap on Sept. 2 in Paris.

Tickets go on sale Friday, March 21 at 10 a.m. local time. Early access is available via the official Will Smith website.

“I’M GOING ON TOUR THIS SUMMER!! We’re hitting up UK & Europe to bring U all the hits, some new joints, and a few surprises ;-),” Smith wrote on Instagram. “All these years, I’ve NEVER done a headline tour and I can’t wait to see you guys!! … Tag a friend, tag all ur friends, tag ya auntie and em, bring errbody! We’re gonna have some fun.”

Out March 28, Based on a True Story will mark the first full-length album from Smith since 2005, arriving nearly 20 years exactly to the date of Lost and Found. He has previewed the record with the singles “First Love,” “Beautiful Scars,” “TANTRUM,” “Work of Art,” and “You Can Make It.”
