The pop star continues to honor Aussie hitmakers while in Down Under for the Radical Optimism world tour
Dua Lipa just can’t get Kylie Minogue out of her head, especially not while in Australia. At her latest stop of the Radical Optimism world tour in Melbourne, Lipa channeled Minogue with a cover of the Aussie pop star’s global hit “Can’t Get You of My Head.”
“There are some songs that don’t really need much of an introduction,” Lipa told the audience at Rod Laver Arena before the dance pop song came over the speakers. She was right. Immediately upon hearing the thumping beats of “Can’t Get You of My Head,” the crowd roared and joined Lipa in singing the iconic “la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la.” The arena turned into a full-blown club party as the audience sang along to every word with Lipa.
“Every night we do something different,” Lipa had told the audience before her launching into her rendition of “Can’t Get You Out of My Head.” Lipa has been paying homage to a variety of Australian hitmakers since her first show on the continent earlier this week. On the first night in Melbourne, the pop star turned to rock with a cover of AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell.” Since then, she also covered Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn.” Lipa will be sure to honor more Aussie musicians while on the continent. She still has five more nights in Australia between the remaining nights in Melbourne and her dates in Sydney.
On the Radical Optimism tour, Lipa will hit Europe next with stops in Spain, France, Germany, and, of course, London. The singer will cross the pond for the North American leg in the fall before wrapping the extensive world tour up in October. She’s already hinted a bit at what comes next after the tour.
“You make the album, you promote it, you go on tour, you do the same thing, and that’s so amazing, but I think there’s going to come a point where maybe I want to take just a little bit longer [in between],” Lipa told Rolling Stone in her 2024 cover story. “I have all these other things that I can also do that really interest me.”
