The pop singer’s new track comes on the heels of February’s “Butterfly”
Marina is ready to fall in love. On her new synth-forward single “Cupid’s Girl,” the Welsh pop star grabs a bow and arrow and sets her sights on romance. “My heart shaped eyes are burning bright,” she sings over an electro pop beat.
The song officially marks the start of a new era for Marina. Last month saw the release of “Butterfly,” the singer’s first offering of new music since the release of the Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land deluxe edition in 2022.
In the time between releases, Marina turned to another art form: poetry. The singer released a collection of poems titled Eat the World in 2024. “I’ve discovered this magical new form of expression where I can still story-tell like I do with my songs,” Marina told Rolling Stone last year, “But I’m able to be way more honest and open about things that is just not possible with songwriting.”
At the time, she also teased the new music she was working on. “I’ve been writing for six months. It’s still at the beginning,” she said. “This is my favorite thing: to build the record and build the world around it. I don’t have any timeline yet, but sooner rather than later. I know it’s been a while, but I’ve had things going on.”
Marina will continue to have a lot of things going on in 2025. She’s slated to perform at a handful of major festivals, including Coachella, World Pride Music Festival, Governors Ball, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, Lollapalooza, and Osheaga Music and Arts Festival.
