Billy Corgan is heading out on a full-band tour in June featuring songs from classic Smashing Pumpkins albums, but the band in question won’t be the Pumpkins: The frontman has formed a new quartet, Billy Corgan and the Machines of God, which will perform songs from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness and the Machina albums, along with selections from Corgan’s 2024 solo release Aghori Mhori Mei. The tour is meant to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Mellon Collie and the 25th anniversary of the Machina/The Machines of God and Machina II/The Friends and Enemies of Modern Music albums.
The tour, dubbed A Return to Zero, begins June 7 in Baltimore and features Corgan alongside a band that includes guitarist Kiki Wong (who recently joined the Pumpkins), drummer Jake Hayden, and bassist Kid Tigrrr (a.k.a. Jenna Fournier). According to Corgan’s announcement, the performances will include both well-known songs and deep cuts from the albums.
Corgan is also revisiting the Machina albums in multiple formats this year. An 80-song box set — with 48 remixed and remastered album tracks, plus 32 demos, outtakes, and live recordings — will be sold exclusively through Corgan’s Madame Zuzu’s tea shop in Highland Park, Illinois. A separate 16-song vinyl reissue of the original “Machina/The Machines of God” will follow on August 22.
Corgan has also partnered with Chicago’s Lyric Opera to present A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness, a special seven-performance series scheduled for Nov. 21-30.
Tickets for the tour will be available first through an artist presale beginning April 1 at 10 a.m. local time through April 3 at 10:00 p.m., followed by general sales starting April 4 at 10 a.m. local time.
