Hardcore legend Mick Foley was hospitalized over the weekend weekend after a car accident left him with a minor concussion, according to a post Foley shared on social media.
The WWE Hall of Famer said he was on his way to a signing event in West Virginia when the incident occurred.
“I am so sorry that I will not be in West Virginia today. I was involved in a car accident and will be spending the day in the hospital,” Foley writes on Facebook. “I am being checked out for what is likely a minor concussion and will be kept overnight for observation. Thank you for understanding.”
He’d go on to share a similar post at Instagram.
“I have no idea how I am still walking around after this accident,” Foley writes. “I’m in the hospital now, and I’m sore from my knees to my neck, including a minor concussion.”
This unfortunate news comes just one week after the wrestler was the subject of the season premiere of Dark Side of the Ring, a brutally honest episode that explored the toll his wrestling style has taken on his body and mind — especially the longterm effects of his concussions. The timing makes this latest injury hit even harder.
Foley’s legacy is built on pushing his body to the limit for the sake of storytelling. Whether it was being thrown off the Hell in a Cell, losing an ear in Germany, or absorbing hundreds of chair shots without flinching, he redefined what it meant to be tough in pro wrestling. But as that Dark Side episode made painfully clear, there’s been a cost.

Thankfully, it sounds like this latest concussion is relatively minor, and Foley is under observation as a precaution. Here’s hoping he gets some rest, takes it slow, and recovers quickly.
Get well soon, Mick. You’ve given so much.
