Kevin Hart Is Hosting the BET Awards

The Philly comedian will serve as host of the event for the second time

Kevin Hart has been tapped to host the silver anniversary edition of the BET Awards on June 9. The gig will be Hart’s second time hosting what BET deems “Culture’s Biggest Night,” after previously serving in the role in 2011. The show will take place at the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles and will air live at 8 p.m. on the East Coast (but tape delayed for those out west).

“I love a celebration!,” Hart said in a statement about the awards showcase. “I’m truly honored to host the 25th BET Awards and celebrate the culture’s biggest night. This year marks the 25th anniversary, and my partners at Hartbeat, BET, and JCE are pulling out all the stops to make it a night to remember. It’s a Black-Tie affair, and you’re all invited. Tune in live on June 9th, only on BET.”

On Hart’s return to host the show, Connie Orlando, BET’s EVP of specials, music programming and music strategy, called Kevin Hart “a powerhouse of an entertainer.”

Orlando added: “His impact spans comedy, film, television, and beyond. As we celebrate 25 years of the BET Awards, we couldn’t think of a more dynamic host to lead this historic night. Kevin’s unmatched charisma, comedic brilliance, and deep-rooted connection to our culture make him the perfect choice to commemorate this milestone event.”

Hart’s BET Awards appearance is another achievement in what’s already been a busy 2025 for the Philadelphia comedian. In March, BET premiered Lil Kev, a Hartbeat-produced adult cartoon based on Hart’s family. And on April Fool’s Day, Hart had fun doing a Tiny Desk performance portraying his rapper alter-ego Chocolate Droppa.
