Frontman Eduin Caz says the group has been “more careful with the arrangements” as they made new LP
Grupo Firme is ready to share their first studio album in three years. Rolling Stone can exclusively announce that the Eduin Caz-fronted band will release their LP, Evolución, on May 8.
“It’s an album that means many things because each song has a little piece of me, most of the songs I composed and each has a little part of me,” Eduin Caz tells Rolling Stone. “We focused on the evolution of our music from no longer being the group that recorded live… to now being more careful with the arrangements.”
The album cover captures brothers Eduin and Jhonny Caz surrounded by the group’s other members standing in front of the Colosseum in Rome. “We did a better job, it took a long time to do it, we did it and redid it with changes, we dedicated all our hearts to this album,” adds Caz.
Evolución is the band’s first studio album since 2022’s Enfiestados y Amanecidos, which preceded the band’s stadium tour that year and featured singles “Algo Tranki” and “Efectos del Alcohol.”
Last year, the group fulfilled frontman Eduin Caz’s dream of recording a live album along Los Tucanes de Tijuana on Arriba La Tía, Desde Las Vegas. “I told [frontman Mario Quintero] I didn’t want to do a duet,” Eduin told Rolling Stone in 2022. “I want a whole album. I said, ‘Imagine how these songs would have a resurgence and how I’d feel singing with one of my idols.’”
In 2024, the band went on their La Última Peda tour, leading many to believe it was the conclusion of the Caz-fronted band as Grupo Firme. However, the band is set to continue touring through Mexico this summer, along with a headlining slot at Michelada Fest in Chicago. They also recently joined Maximo Grado on Somos Leyenda track “Marca Acme.”
