Morgan Wallen Wants Jesus in His Music as Much as Possible

Did you catch the Jesus reference in Morgan Wallen‘s new song “I Ain’t Comin’ Back” featuring Post Malone? Well, that was intentional.

While speaking about the song in an interview prior to its release on April 18, the country singer noted that putting little faith-based crumbs into his lyrics is actually something he aims to do.

“You know, me as a Christian, I think anytime that I can throw little hints of that in my music, I’m always all for it,” he explains.

There are a few lines in the track that speak to Wallen’s faith, in addition to this one that name-drops Jesus Christ.

“There’s a lot of reasons I ain’t Jesus / But the main one is that I ain’t comin’ back / Oh no, no, I ain’t comin’ back,” Wallen sings in the chorus.

“Ain’t no need to wait three days / I might be a lot of things / But I ain’t your saving’ grace,” is another line found in the second verse that speaks to the resurrection of Christ.

Is Morgan Wallen Religious?

If you browse through Wallen’s catalog of music, you’ll find more lyrics that speak to his faith and, in some cases, entire songs.

In “I Wrote the Book,” the country hitmaker lists everything he’s an expert in: Fishing, hunting, baseball and more. These are all things he “wrote the book” on, but the song takes a turn when he sings about the Bible.

It’s the one book that he just can’t seem to measure up to.

Wallen also sings about salvation in his song “Don’t Think Jesus.” Although he didn’t write this one, it feels like a biography of his life, and he sings it with conviction.

During his audition on The Voice in 2014, Wallen spoke about his first singing performance ever, which just so happened to be onstage at his childhood church.

It would seem that early Christian influence on his music has stuck with him over the years.
