Three bonus tracks, available to stream now, feature on re-release of debut album
Playwright Anton Chekhov believed that if you place a gun onstage in the first act of a production, it had better go off in the second, and Coco Jones believes that if you’re going to title an album, Why Not More? you damn well better have more to offer. Only a week has passed since the former Disney star issued her debut album and she has already put out an expanded reissue, Why Not More? (Extended), which contains three bonus tracks. So it’s not just, more, More, MORE! but it’s also now, Now, NOW!
The three new tracks are “Is It Mine,” a baroque R&B number that features Lady London, the keening “Control Freak,” and a recording of the single “Taste” from The Terrell Show. If you want even more than that, fans can watch Jones’ Terrell Show performance, released in March, on YouTube.
It’s also worth noting that the “extended” cut of Why Not More? does not contain “Hate You Right Now,” a song she released only on vinyl sold at Target, so there’s more out there that fans may have already missed.
Jones will also offer more this summer on a tour that kicks off in Philly on May 6 and wraps up in Nashville in late June.
Rolling Stone praised Why Not More? last week, awarding the record four stars out of five in a review. “Jones’ first album-length statement doubles as a flag-plant by an artist who’s clearly been waiting for the right message to send — and the right moment to strike,” it contended. So really, why not more?
