Halle Bailey Granted Restraining Order Against DDG

Halle Bailey has been granted a restraining order against DDG, her ex-boyfriend and the father of her one-year-old son, according to multiple reports.

TMZ first reported the news of the 25-year-old singer and actress taking legal action against the rapper and streamer, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., seven months after announcing their split. In a restraining order request filed Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Bailey accuses Granberry, 27, of physical, emotional, verbal and financial abuse.

Representatives for Bailey and Granberry did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone‘s request for comment.

Bailey claims that “things got physical” starting in January, when Granberry came to her Los Angeles home to pick up their son Halo. She alleges that during a dispute over scheduling visits, he yelled, “Get out of my car, bi—,” at which point Halo began to cry and she became concerned about leaving their child, per Billboard. She alleges that Granberry pulled her hair, slammed her face against the steering wheel, and chipped her tooth. Court documents include images of the alleged injuries.

Bailey also outlines two more alleged incidents of abuse, and claims that Granberry came to see Halo at her home in March, despite her informing the rapper that she and the baby were sick with RSV. After she told him that she didn’t want the baby to leave, Granberry allegedly “became verbally abusive” and smashed her home security camera when he realized it was recording the argument. Bailey says she filed a police report after the incident.

Earlier month, she claims Granberry entered her house when she wasn’t home and texted her a photo of her empty bed with a message insinuating she was having sex with other men.

“Throughout our relationship, Daryl has been and continues to be physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards me,” Bailey says in documents requesting the order, per The Associated Press. “I am seeking orders to protect myself and our son Halo from his ongoing abuse.”

The singer also asks that Granberry be ordered to stop posting about her and their child on his streaming platforms on Twitch and YouTube. “Whenever he wishes to cause upset, he starts bad mouthing me to his several millions of fans,” she said in the documents. “He claims I am withholding our son and that I am with other men. As a result, I then receive threats and hate on social media.”

A hearing over a more permanent restraining order is scheduled for June 4.
