Nelly and Ashanti Release ‘We Belong Together’ Trailer


Nelly and Ashanti will invite fans to take a behind-the-scenes look at their lives throughout the span of their relationship in an upcoming series premiering on Peacock on June 26.

The streaming service bills Nelly and Ashanti: We Belong Together as a journey of the “superstar music couple” as they “rekindle their love, navigate the ups and downs of being newlyweds and new parents, and juggle their careers.” The upcoming eight-episode series will bring “their real-life chemistry and creative vision to the screen,” per a synopsis, which promises a “fun-filled exploration of love’s second chances.”

The trailer opens with the couple being interviewed, with Ashanti admitting, “I’m a wee bit dramatic.” The clip soon moves to the beginning of their relationship, breakup, and their reunion with Nelly saying, “She got me ya’ll,” and Ashanti shooting back: “He wanted to get got.” The video also shows glimpses of the couple as parents, celebrating life events, and going through the bumps of a growing relationship. “With our lives moving so fast, we’re not perfect,” says Nelly toward the end of the trailer. “But we can work our way through it.”

In April 2024, Ashanti announced her pregnancy with Nelly and their engagement to Essence, telling the publication at the time, “This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation.” She added, “Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancé, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience.”

Along with starring in the series, Nelly and Ashanti also serve as the show’s executive producers with showrunner Oji Singletary. Jenny Daly, Lauren Lazin, and J Erving also executive produce the series together with Critical Productions, LLC.
