Oliver Anthony has not confirmed that his new song “Scornful Woman” is about his wife even as fans and famous friends are saying it’s true.
The singer is married with three kids and — if you believe the lyrics to his new song are autobiographical — his wife is trying to take half of everything in a divorce.
“Well she got a side to her / I wanna run from / She’ll turn a warm afternoon / Into a cold, cold one,” he sings to open the song. Later he’s more direct:
“And the court says 50/50 / But the math don’t seem right / With a Scornful Woman”
Who is this woman and why does she want a divorce? Right now we can answer at least one of those questions.
Who Is Oliver Anthony’s Wife?
As Oliver Anthony shot to fame for “Rich Men of North Richmond,” fans and media began to ask, who is this guy? A few details came quick.
His real name is Christopher Lunsford and (in 2023) he lived in a camper in Virginia with his wife and two kids, plus three dogs. During an interview with the Free Press, he shared how he’d turned his life around just before recording “Rich Men …” Then 31 years old, he’d lived a hard life that included a job in a North Carolina paper mill and a skull fracture in 2013. Drinking and marijuana further eroded his quality of life, he says. This all stemmed from, or led to, a crippling depression.
An article at the New York Post shared that he was married to Tiffany Lunsford and together they were raising two kids with a third on the way.
That baby was born in November 2023 but the singer has never shared the names of his kids.
Any details about Tiffany Lunsford beyond that are new details although Whiskey Riff reports she works at a vet clinic.
Oliver Anthony Divorce Details
Joe Rogan is the unlikely source for Oliver Anthony divorce gossip. He’s the one who revealed “Scornful Woman” is about what Anthony is going through in real time. All the singer said when he recorded it was recorded in a snowstorm and they used generators to power the recording.
“He starts making millions of dollars, doing arenas. The wife divorces him, she wants everything,” Rogan said during an episode of the Joe Rogan Podcast . “She wants more than half. She wants all the money he’s going to be making in the future, ’cause she was with him when he was broke. He’s just tortured, wants to die. And he writes this song.”
Lacking additional detail, reaction is split. Some are very supportive of the singer while others are waiting to hear Tiffany’s side of the story.

The Best Oliver Anthony Songs — His Entire Catalog, Ranked
Taste of Country ranked all 19 songs Anthony has released so far. Most were cell phone recordings at first (later recorded for the Hymnal of a Troubled Man’s Mind album), but we didn’t hold a lack of production quality against him. Instead, each song is rated based on strength of message, originality and overall appeal.
