The action flick-themed video directed by Joesph Kahn features guest appearances from Marlon Lundgren Garcia and MrBeast
Mariah Carey is looking for someone who can match her savage ways in the action flick-themed video for her latest single “Type Dangerous.” Directed by Joseph Kahn, the clip features guest appearances from Marlon Lundgren Garcia and MrBeast, who play unsuitable prospects for the singer. “I don’t know him,” Carey says before turning MrBeast’s character Mr. Lean into a flurry of cash.
Carey plays the role of the relentless assassin well. The video cycles through seven acts with different targets in each. The musician starts by knocking out Mr. Player, Mr. Dancer, Mr. Traitor, Mr. Racer, Mr. Dealer, and finally MrBeast. “They wanna settle down but I just don’t trust ’em/They wanna lock me down, but there’s no handcuffing,” Carey sings. “Said we’d be together, but you didn’t stay forever/Now I guess it’s just whatever till the 12th of never/I’ve never been afraid of love/That’s why I like ’em dangerous.”
“Type Dangerous” arrived earlier this month alongside teasers for MC16, the presumably forthcoming 16th studio album from Carey. Her most recent full-length LP, Caution, arrived in 2018. Since then, the singer and songwriter has shared anniversary editions of albums including The Emancipation of Mimi, Music Box, Butterfly, Rainbow, and more. “There’s just something about that time period and about everything that went into my work, my music, and my life at that time that really is the essence of who I am,” Carey told Rolling Stone last year about The Emancipation of Mimi.
Carey recently accepted the Ultimate Icon Award at the 2025 BET Awards. “It took me a while but I finally realized that life is far too short to live for anyone else’s approval which is something I always did,” she said in her speech. “So I decided to own who I am — my extraness, my fabulousness, and yes, my success and my iconicness. I guess that’s what they’re telling me tonight and I appreciate it.”
