Savannah Chrisley wasn’t crying tears of joy or outrage on election night; for her, it was deeply personal.
The Chrisley Knows Best star revealed that she broke down after Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election.
It wasn’t over politics, but because she believed it was her parents’ only chance at freedom.
In a new interview on Fox News Channel’s My View with Lara Trump, Savannah and her brother, Grayson, joined their parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, to reflect on the emotional moment — and the unlikely hope they pinned on Trump.
“Grayson and I watched the election together, and he got to vote for the first time,” Savannah shared.

“When we saw President Trump win, we both started sobbing. He just grabbed me and hugged me, because we knew that was our only way out,” she continued.
Todd Chrisley echoed the sentiment, recalling the moment he and other inmates heard the results.
“We were all glued to the television… and when they finally announced he was the winner, everyone started screaming and yelling. They felt in their spirit that if President Trump wins this election, there’s hope for all of us,” he told the host.
That hope turned into reality: On May 28, Todd and Julie were officially released from prison after receiving full presidential pardons from Trump.

Savannah also recounted her conversation with President Trump about her parents.
“He was like, ‘How are you?’ I said, ‘Well, in the wise words of you—fighting like hell.’ I probably shouldn’t have said that to the president, but… It’s President Trump,” she joked.
She then asked whether the decision was a commutation, only to be stunned by his response.
“‘Nope. We’re going to give them a full pardon. These people get their lives back.’ I was just in such shock,” she said.

Todd and Julie were indicted on 12 counts of bank and wire fraud, tax evasion, and conspiracy.
They were sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison in November 2022 — a sentence now fully wiped away.
