BTS Army Stars in ‘Forever We Are Young’ Documentary Official Trailer

Forever We Are Young opens in select theaters on July 30

BTS Army take center stage in the first official trailer for BTS Army: Forever We Are Young. Opening in select theaters on July 30, the documentary film builds its narrative around the boundless devotion and passion that the supergroup’s fan base has cultivated throughout their career. Through interviews with fans, director Grace Lee and Patty Ahn pull on the string that ties BTS to Army.

“The power of Army could explode historical barriers. It’s a social movement,” one fan says in the trailer. Speaking about their fanbase name, which is an acronym for “Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth,” another fan adds: “It was kind of a prophetic name, Army. I’m clocking in. I’m putting my boots on.” All the hours of work they put in scored the group six Number One singles on the Billboard Hot 100.

“There is no BTS without ARMY and no ARMY without BTS,” Lee and Ahn shared in a statement. “We’re excited for audiences to go on an emotional journey and meet a fandom that made us laugh, cry, and think. We were constantly moved by the fans’ power, resilience, creativity and humor and hope audiences will be too.”

Forever We Are Young will also explore the deeper, more personal impact of being a BTS fan. “After becoming Army, I became very special to myself,” one fan says in the clip. Another added: “In spite of any differences, I felt like I belonged.”

Forever We Are Young premiered at SXSW in Austin earlier this year. Ticket sales begin July 2.

“FOREVER WE ARE YOUNG dives into the passionate fandom that catapulted 21st-century pop icons BTS into a global household name,” a synopsis of the documentary reads. “Defying stereotypes of pop fans as screaming teen girls, ARMY is an intergenerational, culturally savvy, and socially active movement that is as diverse as the world itself. The film captures the powerful spirit of activism and collectivity that make ARMY a symbol of hope and unity in our ever-fractured world.”
