Busta Rhymes is set to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
A ceremony is set to take place for the rap legend later this week (1 August) where he will be celebrated by the likes of LL Cool J, Chuck D and Chris Rock.
Speaking about the moment on CBS Mornings, Busta said: “Thirty-five years of professional recording is a long earning of my rite to passage. I’m just glad they decided it’s time for me. Everything is divine timing. For me, the longer that you waited, the longer that my speech is gonna be.”
The Hollywood Walk of Fame added in a statement: “The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will be adding Busta Rhymes, one of hip-hop’s most enduring and electrifying voices, as a new member of Hollywood’s iconic sidewalk.”
It continued: “His talent and influence are undeniable. His star on the Walk of Fame will stand as a testament to his lasting impact on hip-hop music and how important it is to the American culture.”
Fans will be able to watch the ceremony through the Walk of Fame’s website.
Elsewhere during his chat with CBS, Busta discussed his role in the new Naked Gun movie alongside Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson.
He said: “The thing I loved the most of experiencing the film was that the director [Akiva Schaffer] gave me a lot of opportunity to improvise. We had an incredible amount of fun on the set.”
It is not Busta’s first venture into the movie world having previously appeared in films such as Shaft, Higher Learning and Narc though he has not acted since 2016’s King of the Dancehall.
Busta also recently received an honorary degree from Harvest Christian University.
Busta posted excitedly about the announcement on Instagram as he shared a carousel of photos and video.

“SUCH AN HONOR AND A BLESSING TO BE CHOSEN AND ACKNOWLEDGED IN THIS WAY!!”
