Diddy‘s former girlfriend Virginia Huynh has called for the mogul to be released on bail ahead of his sentencing in October.
Huynh was known as “Victim-3” in the indictment against Diddy and has now revealed her identity for the first time to defend the Bad Boy Records founder.
In a letter to the judge, Huynh said he should be allowed bail to “allow him to continue caring for his family and fulfilling his responsibilities while still subject to the Court’s supervision.”
Huynh also detailed her relationship with Diddy: “Our relationship, like many, was not always perfect, we experienced ups and downs, and mistakes were made but he was willing to acknowledge his mistakes and make better decisions in the future.”
She added, “Over the years that followed, he made visible efforts to become a better person and to address the harm he had caused. By the time our relationship ended, he embodied an energy of love, patience and gentleness that was markedly different from his past behavior.”
Huynh concluded by saying: “Throughout the investigation and proceedings, he has been cooperative, respectful and compliant. He has substantial ties to his family and community, including children who depend on him for emotional and financial support. Allowing him to be at home will also support the healing process for all involved.”
Huynh is the witness that the prosecution could not locate before the start of the trial.
Diddy has previously asked the judge to release him on a $50 million bond and pointed out that others convicted of similar offences are typically released ahead of sentencing.
In a filing, Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo said: “Sean Combs should not be in jail for this conduct. In fact, he may be the only person currently in a United States jail for being any sort of John, and certainly the only person in jail for hiring adult male escorts for him and his girlfriend.”
Diddy was previously denied bail after being cleared of the most serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Judge Arun Subramanian who cited the record executive’s history of violent behavior turned down the bail bid citing Diddy’s record of violent behavior.
Sentencing is currently scheduled for October 3.
