Walmart bosses are banning their employees from doing one thing that is infuriating to customers.
According to MSN, Walmart higher-ups are starting to crack down on letting employees wear earbuds while on the sales floor, around customers.
A picture taken from a break room inside an employee lounge has been going around the internet, and it tells the tale.
“Everyone, no earbuds period. Stop wearing them. Store leads will periodically come back here to check if anyone has them,” writing on an employee white board reads.
Apparently some employees put their earbuds in and start listening to music or even using the phone while on the job, and customers find that “infuriating” and “rude.”
The warning has two stages to it: For the first offense, you will be reprimanded and it will go in your employee file.
For the second offense, you will have to be “coached,” which we assume means you will have to get retrained on the employee handbook.
The board lists a third offense, but it is obviously a joke that was added after the fact, because it says you will be taken out back and executed “Old Yeller style.”
Don’t let the joke at the end fool you, though: Walmart executives are apparently pretty serious about this policy, as they have been seeing more and more complaints both online.
Being the world’s largest private employer, this news is likely going to rattle some cages, but Walmart needs to do what they need to do to keep customers happy.
