Heinz and Smoothie King have just teamed up to introduce the world’s first ketchup smoothie.

Both major brands thought that it was time to settle the debate on whether a tomato is a fruit or a vegetable by jamming it into a flavorful, unexpected smoothie concoction.

It’s a fruit, by the way.

And this is not just ketchup and ice tossed into a blender — this thing was highly thought-out by the two major brands.

Per the official press release, “The Heinz Tomato Ketchup Smoothie blends sweet Acai sorbet, crisp apple juice, juicy strawberries, and tart raspberries with the unmistakable taste of Heinz Simply Ketchup. The result? A sweet and fruity smoothie with a bright, tangy ketchup finish, perfect for Heinz and smoothie lovers alike.”

If you roll up to a Smoothie King to try one, it needs to be one of the participating locations in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Denver or Miami.

You can try one for just under $6, but if you wait too long, it could very well be gone forever, as the ketchup smoothie is an extremely limited time offering.

It’s currently tomato harvest season, and tomatoes are overflowing and looking for a purpose.

When Does Tomato Harvest Season End?

The tomato harvesting season starts in August and will go through the first frost in the area.

Once the first frost hits, that’s the official lights out on any new growth for tomatoes.

The brand is known to take chances. In the past, Heinz has teamed up with Absolut Vodka for a ketchup-infused vodka, as well as Lick, a paint company who made a Heinz ketchup-inspired red paint.
