The road to country music stardom just got a whole lot more interesting — and lucrative.
In a new sneak peek for Taylor Sheridan’s reality competition series The Road — featuring country music royalty Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, and Gretchen Wilson — fans finally learn what’s at stake for the artists hitting the stage.
The grand prize? $250,000 and a record deal — and that might not be all.
Viewers will have to tune in for the rest of the details as 12 emerging artists battle it out on tour, opening for Urban at music venues across the United States.
Blake Shelton’s Views on Tour Life
“Touring is hard to get right. When you do, it is the greatest feeling in the world,” Shelton says in the trailer.

The “God’s Country” singer continues, “There is not a musician in Nashville that wouldn’t want the opportunity to have the stage before a superstar like Keith Urban.”
Shelton notes that The Road will “show people what these artists go through” — and it’s not always glamorous.
Keith Urban and Gretchen Wilson Chime In
Urban breaks down the competition format: “Twelve musicians on tour with me, and they are going to have to win over [the audience] to get to the next city.”
Wilson adds, “We have some very talented people that came to compete, but out here opening for Keith’s audiences is not for the faint of heart.”
Inside the Show
The Road was created by Shelton, Sheridan, Lee Metzger, and David Glasser.
In addition to the competition, fans will see Urban performing songs from his latest album High, including the single “Straight Line.”
The tour took place earlier this year, starting in March at Tannahill’s Tavern & Music Hall in Fort Worth, Texas, and wrapping in April at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
