Seizures Contributed to His Death

Brandon Blackstock died after a three-year battle with melanoma, but that wasn’t the only contributing factor.

His death certificate reveals that seizures were a significant contributor.

  • Brandon Blackstock died on Aug. 7, after a 3-year cancer battle.
  • He was married to Kelly Clarkson for almost a decade and the couple had two kids, River and Remington.
  • His official cause of death is natural causes.

People obtained the document. They report that the Silver Bow (Montana) County Coroner listed seizures as “significant conditions contributing to death, but not resulting in the underlying cause.”

Additionally, the certificate notes that Blackstock was cremated, and no autopsy was performed.

When Is Brandon Blackstock’s Funeral?

Blackstock’s funeral will be a private affair. The obituary at Axelson Funeral Home in Butte, Mont. shares that it’s planned for Aug. 17, and all friends and loved ones are invited to join, but they’ll need to get details word-of-mouth.

In lieu of flowers, mourners are encouraged to donate to the Brandon Blackstock Memorial Fund at the Montana Stockgrowers Foundation.

Will Kelly Clarkson Return to Her TV Show?

The day before Blackstock’s death, Clarkson shared that she was canceling her professional schedule through the end of August to be with her children. At that time she’d not revealed the extent of his illness.

The 43-year-old singer has not commented publicly in the seven days since her ex-husband’s passing, but TMZ has learned that The Kelly Clarkson Show is still on track for a September premiere.

This will be Season 7 of the show. Many insiders have speculated that she might not return after this season, as her contract is expiring, but nobody has said as much officially.

In addition to her daytime talk show, Clarkson will return to The Voice for Season 29 in 2026.
