When Is ‘Landman’ Back? Season 2 Return Date Revealed

Paramount has shared a short video tease for Landman Season 2 that includes the official return date.

Quite a bit has changed in the months since Season 1 wrapped. New cast, key plot points and the lawsuit that some felt was holding up production … it’s all included here.

When Does Landman Season 2 Begin?

Look for Season 2 of Landman to start on Nov. 16 on Paramount+. That’s almost exactly one year after the debut of the series in 2024. This news clarifies earlier reports that the show would begin in November.

The show will once again release new episodes on Sundays. If Season 2 is also 10 episodes, the Landman finale would air on Jan. 18, 2026.

Here is the 15-second teaser released earlier this week. It shows Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) under some amount of stress as disaster looms on the oil patch. As fans may recall, his job is hardly his greatest worry this year.

How Did Season 1 of Landman End?

During the Landman Season 1 finale, Tommy gets kidnapped by drug cartel henchman Jimenez and he’s tortured as a sort of payback for the unpleasant interactions that marked their relationship for nine episodes prior. Just as it seems Tommy will get killed, cartel leader Gallino (played by Andy Garcia) guns down Jimenez and his men and makes an uncomfortable peace with Tommy.

Meanwhile, Tommy’s boss Monty (John Hamm) is hospitalized with a serious heart problem, but doctors think he can survive a few days or weeks without needing a transplant. He lasts less than 24 hours, and after his death, Tommy is named permanent president of M-Tek.

One of his jobs as executor of Monty’s last wishes is to sell the company. It’s a role that hangs over his head as the credits begin.

The serious drama on the oil patch is lightened by the presence of Tommy’s wife Angela (Ali Larter) and daughter Ainsley (Michelle Randolph). These relationships solidify throughout the season, and by the finale they’re existing as a strange sort of Texas family unit.

Angela’s separation from her previous husband is clean, and Ainsley is now in a relationship with Ryder, a boy her age.

Tommy’s son Cooper (Jacob Lofland) has quit his job at M-Tek and is now set to go out on his own. His plan is to group several dozen small parcels of land together to sell to a large investor, and it looks to be going well in practice and on paper.

Both he and his new love interest Ariana (actor Paulina Chavez) are on wobbly legs, however.

She’s still grieving the explosion death of her husband — a moment Cooper was there to witness. It’s a relationship that’s been at the center of all the drama in the show, including in-fighting between M-Tek employees and lawsuits filed against the oil company.

Landman Season 2 Cast:

It’s an understatement to say Landman upgraded its cast for Season 2. For starters, Garcia will return.

Sam Elliott is also going to join the series as a regular. His character’s place and purpose has not yet been revealed. He worked with Taylor Sheridan previously in 1883, the first Yellowstone prequel.

Here are more new actors added to Season 2:

Stefania Spampinato: She’s best known as. Dr. Carina DeLuca-Bishop on Grey’s Anatomy. On Landman, she’ll play the wife of Garcia’s Gallino.

Guy Burnet: You may recognize Burnet from Fubar or Oppenheimer. On Landman he’ll play Charlie Newsom, an oil engineer.

Miriam Silverman: Silverman is a Tony Award-winning theater actor who also stars in an Apple+ show called Your Friends & Neighbors. She’s going to play Greta Stidham, an intimidating university admissions counselor. On Landman, Ainsley is close to college, so this character is likely to impact her life.

Landman Season 1 Ratings

The first episode of Landman reached 14.6 million viewers, according to Paramount+. The Hollywood Reporter shares that the first season totaled 35 million streaming viewers, making it the most-watched original series on the platform.

Landman Lawsuit

In June, the estate of late radio newsman Paul Harvey sued Paramount over the use of a 2008 radio segment called “Gas Crisis” at the beginning of the Ep. 10 episode. They claimed the show used the clip without permission and edited Harvey to make it sound like he was more supportive of the oil business.

The moment added color to the episode, but was not a central tenant of the plot. A few people online worried this might affect the show’s second season premiere, but there’s been no evidence that this is the case.

During a Q2 2025 earnings call, Paramount did suggest Landman would be pushed to December, but news of the Nov. 16 premiere walks that back.
