Lil Nas X Arrested After Hospital Stay

Lil Nas X was “arrested for battery on a police officer” after his hospitalization on Thursday (Aug. 21), according to a police statement provided to NBC.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to reports of a naked man just before 6AM.

He reportedly charged at officers when they arrived. A source close to law enforcement also says that he punched a police officer in the face twice during the altercation.

Why Was Lil Nas X Hospitalized Before His Arrest?

The singer — whose legal name is Montero Lamar Hill — was spotted walking through the streets of L.A. in only white underwear and cowboy boots.

According to video filmed by passersby, which was published on TMZ, he had some interactions with various people. He told some he was on his way to a party, and at one point, put a traffic cone on his head.

TMZ cites law enforcement sources who said the singer was taken to the hospital.

A few pedestrians speculated drugs or mental distress might have been involved, but it’s not entirely clear what he was treated for during his time at the hospital.

When Will Lil Nas X Be Released From Jail?

On Friday (Aug. 22), TMZ reported that Lil Nas X will remain behind bars until at least Monday (Aug. 25.)

That’s because he needs to go before a judge to have his bail set, which won’t happen until after the weekend.

Since his charge is a violent one, he won’t be issued a citation and released.

TMZ also reported that the singer has kept a fairly low profile during his time in jail, according to law enforcement close to the situation.

What Else Has Lil Nas X Been Up To in 2025?

This continues an unpredictable 2025 for Montero Lamar Hill. Earlier this week, he wiped his Instagram clean and began adding colorful teasers. A clip from a new song called “Black Horse” also appeared, as did one featuring Lil Jon that was titled “Kimbo.”

This activity followed several months of silence since being hospitalized in April with partial facial paralysis.

While “Old Town Road” was Lil Nas X’s massive breakthrough, he’s scored several other hits. “Panini,” “Rodeo” with Cardi B, “Montero” and “Industry Baby” with Jack Harlow all charted high on Billboard charts.

Country fans know him best for his debut, however: He recorded a popular collaboration with Billy Ray Cyrus and took the CMA for Music Event of the Year in 2019.

Lil Nas X has an album called Dreamboy planned for 2025.
