Country trio Chapel Hart, who rose to fame on America’s Got Talent, have announced that they’re taking a break from their work together as a trio.
An Instagram post from the band on Monday (Aug. 25) says they decided to “press pause” in order to focus on individual creative projects.
Danica Hart will be pursuing music solo, while bandmates Devynn Hart and Trea Swindle have formed a duo called Magnolia Rising.
“This is not a goodbye,” Chapel Hart wrote in their post. “It is a celebration of everything we have built and a step toward everything still to come.”
Who Are Chapel Hart?
- Chapel Hart first turned heads with their Dolly Parton remake, “You Can Have Him, Jolene,” which earned them a Golden Buzzer during their AGT audition.
- The Mississippi-based trio consists of sisters Danica and Devynn Hart, and their first cousin Trea Swindle.
- They’ve since collaborated with acts like Darius Rucker, and released another modern-day remake of a country classic: This time, Loretta Lynn‘s “Fist City.”
- The band released their Glory Days album in 2023.
- Both Lynn and Parton heard — and applauded — Chapel Hart’s renditions of their songs.
Why Are Chapel Hart Going on Hiatus?
The group’s parting is amicable, according to statements provided to The Tennessean.
Devynn and Trea told the publication that they’re wishing the best for Danica as she moves forward solo.
But in a since-deleted Facebook post she made in July, Danica alleged that “physical violence and abuse” contributed to her departure from the band, and she said that she was being “pushed out of her band.”
What Did Danica Hart Say About Her Departure From Chapel Hart?
The Music Universe published a screenshot of the full post at the time.
Danica wrote that she’d been quiet about some troubling behind-the-scenes goings-on for some months, but that she couldn’t keep the secret any longer.
“I and other members of our team have been subjected to physical violence and abuse. I am at the point of breaking,” she wrote.
“My intention was to fulfill the commitments and complete the agreed-upon dates, but given the circumstances, I no longer feel safe or supported to continue,” Danica went on to say.
She also said she told the group’s management that she wanted to leave due to “bad behavior and immorality going on that had no consequences or repercussions,” but that they tried to twist a narrative in which the band’s split would be pinned on her desire to depart — without any additional context.
“They already have a drafted press release typed up saying that break up is because I’m leaving … that’s not true,” she added.
Danica also said she was trying, unsuccessfully, to pursue legal options.
“I really need an entertainment attorney or maybe a regular attorney,” she said.
At that time, she said she would continue to fulfill scheduled performance dates, but added, “I want to be clear, I do not feel comfortable or safe.”
Danica subsequently deleted the post and apologized for her statement.
Chapel Hart Hiatus
On Tuesday (Aug. 26) she shared the group’s hiatus announcement to her Instagram Stories, writing, “With love and admiration.”
What’s in Store for the Future of the Chapel Hart Bandmates?
Chapel Hart currently have two more dates on their tour calendar for 2025.
The band’s post says they’ll play those dates as scheduled.
“We want to celebrate the community we’ve built together, so as we finish playing our scheduled shows for the rest of the season, we hope that we get to see each and every one of you on the road!!” the post reads.
Devynn and Trea also shared the first post on an Instagram post for their new duo, Magnolia Rising, over the weekend.
“We’ve walked through fire and came out stronger, and we can’t wait to share the music, the stories and the ride with you,” they say in their post.

Country music is a little more polite in public than some genres, but that doesn’t mean the gloves don’t come off in private. We tend to assume all of our favorite country artists are good friends with their bandmates, but when they go their separate ways, sometimes the truth turns out to be very different.
