The official cause of death for longtime American Idol music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband, Thomas DeLuca, has been confirmed.

According to death certificates obtained by People, Kaye and DeLuca, both 70, died of multiple gunshot wounds inside their Encino, Calif., home on July 10.

Although the couple was killed on July 10, their date of death is recorded as July 14, when officers discovered their bodies during a welfare check. They were cremated on July 23.

How the Murders Allegedly Happened

Investigators say surveillance footage shows 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian jumping a fence and entering the couple’s home through an unlocked sliding glass door.

Roughly 30 minutes later, Kaye and DeLuca returned home.

“There was a confrontation that ensued, which resulted in the victims receiving multiple gunshot wounds and succumbing to those injuries,” LAPD Lt. Guy Golan explained in a press briefing.

Detectives later found a handgun inside Boodarian’s home that they believe was the murder weapon, pending forensic confirmation.

Four Days Before Discovery

Kaye and DeLuca’s bodies remained in the home for four days before police found them on July 14, following a welfare check requested by concerned loved ones.

According to ABC 7, the fatal shooting occurred on July 10, with their bodies going undiscovered until the following Sunday.
