Lil Nas X has shared his first statement since he was apprehended in downtown Los Angeles, hospitalized and arrested last Thursday (Aug. 21).
The “Old Town Road” singer, who has scored several more hits since his country-leaning debut, hopped on Instagram Stories to assure fans that he’ll be okay after the incident.
“Your girl is gonna be okay, y’all. She’s gonna be alright,” he says in the video.
Though he put on a brave face, the singer didn’t shy away from admitting how tough his time in the hospital and jail was.
“That was f–king terrifying,” he continues.
“That was a terrifying last four days,” Lil Nas X reiterates. “But your girl is gonna be alright.”
What Happened to Lil Nas X?
Last Thursday, TMZ broke the news that Lil Nas X had been apprehended by police and hospitalized.
Officers responded after Lil Nas X was strolling down the streets of L.A. in just underwear and cowboy boots. He had some conversations with passers-by, and even put a traffic cone on his head at one point, according to video filmed by those who saw him.
Some spectators suspected that drugs, alcohol or mental distress might have factored into the situation.

After he was released from the hospital, Lil Nas X was booked into jail.
He allegedly charged at a police officer and even punched one, according to a report from TMZ. He was arrested on battery charges and stayed in jail over the weekend, due to the fact that he had to wait until Monday for arraignment.
How Many Charges Is Lil Nas X Facing?
When he went before a judge on Monday (Aug. 25), Lil Nas X pleaded not guilty to four felony charges.
Those include three counts of battery with injury to a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. His bail was set at $75,000.
His court date also brought some new details to light about his arrest: According to reports, Lil Nas X was fully naked by the time he was arrested by officers.
Also on Monday, the singer’s father Robert Stafford told reporters that Lil Nas X was “very remorseful for what occurred” leading up to his arrest.

Stafford also said his son “absolutely” did “not” take illegal drugs before the incident. Defense attorney Christine O’Connor also said there was no evidence of drug involvement.
“He’s going to get the help he needs and just keep him in your prayers,” Stafford told TMZ. “Give him the same grace and mercy that God gives everyone.”
Could Lil Nas X Go to Jail?
If convicted on his charges, Lil Nas X could face up to five years in prison.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 15.
